Exam Registration

We require pre-registration so we can prepare your exam paperwork and ensure we have enough Volunteer Examiners to administer your exam


While others may charge 15 Quatloos, our exams are free!

 There are no age limits nor code requirements for taking an exam

 

Available exam sessions are in the drop down for the exam registration.

The taking of more than one exam is at our discretion if time permits


We encourage everyone to attend our club meetings which often have informative presentations, as well as experienced licensed operators to answer your questions


Our meetings are held immediately after the exam session at 7:30 p.m.  


Please only examinees and the VE Team in the room during exams.

Exceptions for minors with an adult or individuals with special needs.


If you are blind please contact us so we can provide an exam without diagrams and another VE to administer the exam if needed


Exam Requirements


  • A Photo ID – if you do not have a government issued ID, then a school ID or other form of picture identification may be acceptable
  • An FCC Registration Number (FRN) - Link is above in checklist
  • A copy of your current license (if you are upgrading an existing license), which we may keep.  You may also print a copy of your license from the FCC ULS.  We also accept signed CSCEs from an exam session issued within the last year
  • You must have passed and have proof of the previous class license to take the next level license exam
  • Exams must be taken and passed in sequence: Technician, General and Amateur Extra.  You cannot skip any exam level before testing for the next level
  • Please refrain from writing on the exams.  You may write on the back of your answer sheet if needed
  • Programmable calculators are allowed if memories are cleared which is verified by our team
  • You may not have access to any of the following electronic devices while taking an exam:  Cell phones, Smart watches, Tablets, Earbuds and headphones, Smart Glasses [e.g., Apple glasses, Google glasses, etc.]

Everyone is encouraged to attend our club meeting which follows at 7:30 p.m.

Additional Questions

While we do not charge for our exams, successful technician applications uploaded to the FCC start a 10 calendar day clock for a $35 fee to be paid to the FCC by the applicant.   The FCC will email you once the clock starts.  You cannot submit payment to the FCC until they email you.  There are no fees for upgrading your license class, name change, mailing nor email address changes
