Wires-X Best Practices

  • Our Room 84898 is named CINCINNATI-WIDE
  • Do NOT use Group Mode on any Repeater
  • Leave 2 - 3 seconds between transmissions to allow break-ins
  • Pause at the start of your transmission or the beginning might be cut off
  • Stay keyed up at end of transmission for a second so you are not cut off

Repeater FAQs

  • Question:  I only use analog FM and have no interest in using digital modes; am I being left out?
  • Answer:  No, our 147.345 repeater is analog (CTCSS tone 123.0 Hz)

and our 443.450 repeater is analog as well (CSQ No Tone)

  • Question:  I know I am in range of the 147.345 repeater.  I transmit, but no one hears me.
  • Answer:  You must be within range using a station with adequate power with a good antenna.  If still having issues, please ensure you have a CTCSS (PL) tone of 123.0 set on both transmit and receive in your radio.  Please note using a handheld to access any repeater is less than ideal in most circumstances

  • Question:  What is Wires-X and why do we have it on our 146.76 repeater?
  • Answer:  Wires-X is a technology allowing C4FM users to connect to repeaters locally, regionally or worldwide using VOIP over the internet.  We are adding this technology to appeal to a wider audience.  We anticipate this will increase both traffic on the repeater and membership in the club
